A LARGE RUSSIAN SILVER SAMOVAR, OVCHINNIKOV, MOSCOW, 1899-1908. Resting on a square pedestal base supported by four bracket feet upon which rests the tapered cylindrical reservoir with the front engraved with a blank shield cartouche above a substantial shaped silver spigot. The body overall machine-engraved with a checkered pattern with bands at the top and bottom of repeating geometric forms. The sides mounted with sturdy handles. Hallmarked Moscow, 1899-1908, and Cyrillic maker's mark "P.OVCHINNIKOV" under the Imperial Warrant. Height 18.75 inches (47.5 cm). Gross weight 158.15 troy oz.
