A LARGE RUSSIAN SILVER GILT TROMPE L'OEIL CIGAR BOX, MOSCOW, 1908-1917. The rectangular form with hinged lid, the sides engraved with simulated wood grain, the lid and sides also engraved with banding depicting labels, and displaying various awards, including numerous Imperial double-headed eagles. The brightly gilded interior engraved with dedicatory inscription and with foreign import marks. Hallmarked Moscow, 1908-1917, Cyrillic maker's mark A.F within an oval cartouche, probably for Alexander Fuld, and with 84 silver standard. Length 7.5 inches (19 cm). Width 4 inches (10.2 cm). Height 2.6 inches (6.8 cm). Total weight 14.96 troy oz.
