A FINE RUSSIAN ICON OF SAINT NICHOLAS, TRINITY SERGI LAVRA WORKSHOP, DATED 1897. A finely painted full length image of Nicholas who holds a book of Gospels and delivers a blessing beneath and image of the Old Testament Trinity, the namesake of the Lavra. The background and borders finely incised with strap work and scrolls. Verso of icon with stamp of the Trinity Sergi Lavra and price of six rubles, and with handwritten dedicatory inscription dated 1897. Size: 8.75 inches x 3.5 inches (22.5 x 9 cm). In excellent condition being contained in its original glazed frame (not shown).
