A LARGE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE DIESIS AND FEASTS DAYS, KHOLUI, 19TH CENTURY. Painted on a large single horizontal panel, at center Christ holds an open book of Gospels and delivers a blessing. He is flanked by the Mother of God (left) and John the Forerunner (right). The upper and lower borders painted with 15 Feast Day images and an image of the Mother of God Joy to All Who Sorrow. Additionally, on either side of each of the main figures are circular medallion shaped reserves painted with a different saint. The borders cleaned down to the gesso and with some losses. 22.75 inches x 54.75 inches (58 x 139 cm).
