A LARGE RUSSIAN ENGRAVED GILT METAL AND PAINTED BLESSING CRUCIFIX, 19TH CENTURY. The cross ends terminating in trefoil lobes with ogee arched tips. At center an applied painted cross depicting the crucified Christ and surrounded by paste stones. The finial with a similarly painted medallion icon of God the Father, also encircled in paste stones and the ends of the central cross beam set with similarly painted medallions of the Mother of God (left) and the Apostle John (right). Immediately beneath the feet of Christ, a painted medallion of the Virgin and below further still a painted icon of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. The verso heavily engraved and the entire cross set on a wall mounted style wooden display stand with integral candle holder at the base. The height of cross 17.75 inches (44.5 cm). Overall height including stand 23.1 inches (59 cm).
