AN EXQUISITE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE VLADIMIR MOTHER OF GOD. Comprising the Iverskaya Mother of God and Christ, who holds an open book of Gospels to John 13:34. Both realistically rendered and both overlaid with silver machine-engraved rizas with champlevé enameled haloes, title plaques, and Gospels text. Hallmarked Moscow 1908-1917, indistinguishable maker's mark, perhaps EA, and with 84 silver standard. 7.1 inches x 5.6 inches (18 x 14.5 cm).
