A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD JOY TO ALL WHO SORROW WITH COINS, CIRCA 1890. At top center, Christ delivers a blessing and below is depicted the Mother of God surrounded by a gathering of needy who ask for her intercession. Interspersed throughout the image are painted copper copex, and on the lower margin is inscribed a narrative describing the event which took place in St. Petersburg in the year 1888 resulting in this variant being discovered. 12.4 inches x 10.5 inches (31.4 x 26.5 cm).
