A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE LIFE-GIVING FONT MOTHER OF GOD, MOSCOW 1890. At center an image of the Mother of God and infant Christ within a fountain in which the needy draught water from. Overlaid with a silver repoussé and chased riza with attached haloes. Hallmarked Moscow, dated 1890, and with indistinguishable Cyrillic maker’s mark, perhaps “Ch.P.” 7 inches x 5.25 inches.
