A VERY FINE NORWEGIAN WOOD AND CUT IRON DECORATED TRUNK WITH ROSEMALING, DATED 1832. Painted in the Telemark style, the front panel with polychrome florals on a dark green ground, overlaid with an elaborate cut iron lock plate with four spreading coils and applied iron letters "BSDN," flanked by spade form iron corner brackets below a fully decorated domed lid with wrought iron strap hinges the full width. The front facade inscribed with "Brile Samsons datter Nros 1832." Height 22.5 inches (57 cm), width 39.75 inches (101 cm), depth 21 inches (53.5 cm).
