AN EARLY NORWEGIAN WALL HANGING CORNER CABINET, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY. The paneled door with ornate cut metal work hinges, above a single storage drawer. Height 33 inches (84 cm), width 23 inches (58.5 cm), depth 15 inches (38 cm).

Originally from the collection of Josephine Bay Paul (1900-1962) who was a noted collector, financier, shipping executive, and philanthropist, purchased in Europe by her first husband Charles Ulrick Bay (d.1955), United States Ambassador to Norway from 1946 -1953, for use in decorating their vacation home, Hill Farm, in Pawling, New York, which was sold along with the above mentioned lot to friends Norman Vincent and Ruth Stafford Peale in the 1960's. This piece was donated by the Ruth Stafford Peale Estate to the current consignor, the Vesterheim American Norwegian Museum, after her death in 2008.
