A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD, JOY TO ALL WHO SORROW, CIRCA 1890. Executed on a brilliant gilt field, ornately incised, the corners painted to simulate cloisonné enamel. In the upper left border with the family saint the Apostle John and on the right, the Holy Martyr Timothy. 14 inches x 12 inches (35.7 x 30.4 cm).
