A PAIR OF LARGE JAPANESE CARVED IVORY SCENIC TUSK VASES, MEIJI PERIOD. Each expertly carved in deep relief and extremely high detail depicting a total of nine Samurai warriors and a young Geisha with horse wearing ornate patterned multi layered garments and displaying various accoutrements including Katanas, Tantos, and Yuma, engaged in playful scenes under a pine tree canopy with flying birds and clouds, each raised on a shaped carved hardwood footed stand with painted gilt scrolled foliates. The ivory- 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) tall and 12.75 inches (32.4 cm) high overall.
