A VERY FINE PAIR OF FRENCH LIMOGES ENAMELED AND GILT BRONZE MOUNTED EMPIRE REVIVAL LIDDED URNS, 19th CENTURY. Of ovoid form with allegorical scenes of science and the arts, finely decorated in shaded and translucent enamels on a mottled topaz enameled ground raised on a four footed cloven hoofed base above an enameled and gilt painted plinth with gilt bronze scrolled bracketed feet. Height 12 inches (30.5 cm).
