A RUSSIAN SILVER EASTER EGG, ST. PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1880.  The silver egg with frosted surface and integral swivel suspension loop at top. The front with double hinged door opening to form a triptych and reveal a miniature painting of the risen Christ within an egg-shaped reserve. The verso etched in Slavonic "CHRIST HAS RISEN." Hallmarked St. Petersburg, circa 1880, and with indistinct Cyrillic maker's mark, perhaps "DD," and with 84 silver standard. Together with silk lined leather covered fitted case. Height 3 inches (7.2 cm).
