A VERY FINE RUSSIAN DOUBLE-SIDED CARVED WOOD CRUCIFIX, 18TH CENTURY.  Exquisitely carved in miniature and depicting the 12 major Feast Days, each identified by their Slavonic title. The front of cross carved at center with the Crucifixion surrounded by various feast days including at top the Ascension and on the left the Dormition and on the right the Entry Into Jerusalem. Below, the Raising of Lazarus and further down still the Descent of the Holy Spirit. The verso carved equally as well depicting the Annunciation, the Baptism, the Nativity, the Meeting in the Temple, the Transfiguration and the Resurrection.  Height 3.75 inches (9.5 cm).
