A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN YEAR ICON, CIRCA 1875. The large and ornate icon displaying at center the Resurrection (top) and Descent Into Hades (bottom) immediately surrounded by the 12 major church feasts. Farther out still 12 reserves each representing a month of the year and each painted with the events and Saints celebrated on each day of that month. The outer border painted with 90 miraculous images of the Mother of God as celebrated on the Church calendar. 28 inches x 22.25 inches (71 x 56.5 cm)
