A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE RUSSIAN ICON OF THE KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD, CIRCA 1824. Colorfully painted with the left border displaying the family Saint Elizabeth and the right border with the Guardian Angel. Overlaid with an elaborate heavy gilded silver repousse and chased riza.  The lower margin with an abbreviated enameled title plaque identifying the subject as The Kazan Most Holy Mother of God and the upper corner with abbreviated enameled plaques   ΜΡ ΦΥ for Mother of God. Riza hallmarked Moscow, dated 1824, Cyrillic makers mark ЯМ and 84 standard. 14.25 inches x 12.25 inches (36.2 x 31 cm)
