A RUSSIAN ICON OF THE KAZAN MOTHER OF GOD, 19TH CENTURY. Tenderly painted in the Italianate style, the entire image overlaid with an ornate silver repousse riza with gilded silver haloes set with angels placing a crown on the Virgin (Queen of Heaven). Hallmarked St. Petersburg, dated 1862 and with Cyrillic makers mark ИЗА. 11.75 inches x 10.25 inches (32.5 x 26cm)
